Mt Hood Restaurants
Government Camp offers only a few places to dine, but they vary dramatically.
The Ratskeller Restaurant, and the Charles Mountain View Restaurant are
quite rustic reminding me a little of a logging town. The Huckleberry Inn
Restaurant and the Brew PUb Restaurants are more upscale. And then the best
for last. The Falcon's Crest Restaurant has great food. Reservations are
required with up to a two month wait (I am told). The Falcon's Crest dining
reservtion phone numbers are 503-272-3403 (local) and 800-634-7384 (toll free).
Further up the moutain, Timberline Lodge offers gourmet Pacific Northwest cuisine.
As you drive west on HWY 26, just after you leave the Mt Hood National Forest, there are four small towns,
each consisting of a couple stores and restaurants and perhaps a U.S. Post Office.
The towns are Rhododendron, Welches, Zigzag and Brightwood all within about four miles of the National Forest border.
In Brightwood, the only restaurant is inside the Brightwood Tavern. In Welches you will
find the following restaurants: Recreational Center, Whistle Stop Tavern, Inn Between Tavern,
Frog, Rondezvous, Panda Panda chinese restaurant, the Shack, Resort at the Mountain, and the Cellar. In
ZigZag there is the Territory, the Oregon Trail and the Zigzag Inn restaurants. In Rhododendron there is the
Alpine Hut restaurant serving spanish food, Guidos serving italian food and a Dairy Queen and a Subway Sandwich Shop (our two fast food options).
